Photo Analysis- Main task

These two pictures are pretty similar in the way that they  match the genre through the use of Mise en Scene. The shot is a medium shot, showing the artists positioning in the room and also the costumes and props being used. In both pictures, they are both distancing themselves from the camera and looking off into the distance. Again, this is showing their arrogance. However, this is a good thing as it fits in nicely with the genre of R&B. In this picture, I feel that the spacial relationship between the wall and the artist is evident, which is good, as it shows that from my planning of taking the pictures, I have considered using Mise En Scene for effect. Overall, I think that it is a good picture, however, I think that I have taken much better pictures than this, therefore I don't think that it will be used for the magazine production.

Photo Analysis- Main Task

This picture completely goes against the seriousness of the magazine. However, I think it is a good picture as it links in nicely with the younger generation of target audience. It changes the viewpoint of the artist, as before he was a really relaxed and serious person. However, now he seems on the fun side of things. You could quote that he is showing a serious side because he is looking directly into the camera, which shows his dominance and seriousness.This medium shot with a low camera angle has everything good about it. The Mise en scene is evident through the use of his clothes and snapback. The spacial relationship is evident and there is a nice calming effect. The background is nicely mixed with different shades of grey, making everything look relaxing. The only problem with this picture is that it doesn't really create an urban feel. To make it look better, because it needed changes, I edited the picture using a tool called 'Piknik'. Below is the edited version;

Photo Analysis- Main Task

This is another picture that looks good for my music magazine. The stance of the artist is powerful, acting like he owns the magazine. This again shows that his arrogance and confidence is evident. He is again shown through a medium shot with a low angle. The low angle backs up the point just made about his dominance and confidence. The fact he is staring at the sky could reveal a certain story about his life, such as a religious background. His stance is a perfect stance for the genre, as he is doing the same stance as other inspirational rappers that I have looked at when planning my magazine ideas. The only problem is the background, as there is no urban feel, which would possibly put the audience off of the magazine, as it doesn't really reflect the genre. Overall, I feel that it is a good picture nonetheless, as I have got everything like Mise en scene, shots and stances correct.

Photo Analysis

Tilted frame on this picture makes it effective, as it allows the readers to see the picture from a different angle. Again a medium shot is being used to convey the facial expressions and the clothing that the artist is using. The low angle yet again relates to the artists dominance in this picture and in terms of the magazine, he is the main story. The picture relates in nicely with the main storylines in the magazine, as the artist is the main feature in the magazine in this months issue. His facial expression is rather serious, which links in nicely with the main cover story. This ensures that there is a nice relationship between image and story.

Main Task picture

This close up helps draw the readers into the artists facial expressions. We can see that he is not very serious in this picture again, which again is indifferent to the story line. The frame is tilted once more for effect, seeing the artist from different angles. Overall, I like this picture, however, the background is to light, whereas I wanted to make the background a bit darker to add to the seriousness of the magazine.

Main Task Pictures

Another close-up is used. However, with this picture I don't really find it inticing and it doesn't create effect. The fact the door is showing doesn't help, as it makes it look very unprofessional. You could say the artist is looking serious which is a good thing as the audience will be able to see a relationship between the picture and the storyline. Also, the mise en scene is good, such as the clothing, as it fits in nicely with the colour scheme on the front cover. Overall, it is not the best picture, however, with the use of photoshop or any other tool I can achieve my aim of making it better.

Music magazine pictures.

This picture is a medium long shot. It shows the background nicely and conveys a lack of seriousness about the artist. This goes against the main storyline, as it is supposed to be a serious storyline. The low camera angle is displayed with effect once more, as it is showing his power, hence the reason why the magazine article is going to be about him. The lighting is an effect in this photo, as the bright light shining over the artist could be shown as symbolism towards his rise to fame. However, there is still a dark shadow in the corner. This could convey many different outlooks, such as a troubled past.
