Sketches of my Photos with analysis

The four pictures here are the four pictures that will be inserted into my magazine. Before I could put my magazine together, I had to draw a plan of my pictures. This is an ideal thing to do when making a magazine, personally as it enables you to look back at your sketches and see what you are going to do, when taking the pictures. Looking back on these sketches, my first one is the artist looking away from the camera. For me, I think it would look good in a medium shot, with a low angle being used, the low angle conveying the dominance and importance of the artist. The medium shot would allow the audience to see him, so his facial reactions but also the props he is using or wearing, such as the chain and the snapback. This is one thing I had to think about when creating my magazine, as it was important that I included Mise En Scene in the pictures. Not only is Mise En Scene about the props, but it is also about spacial relationships. When completing the task of taking my pictures, I focused on the spacial relationships. For example, when taking the picture, I didn't want to see much of the wall, as it would look unprofessional. Therefore, I located my artist into a different position to ensure the picture would look successful.  On my third picture design, I looked to alternate things. I still conveyed the artist through a medium shot, however I used an eye level angle to show him looking directly into the camera. This would create contrasting moods, as it would suddenly create a more serious outlook upon the magazine.

Within these four pictures, I again looked at change. For my second picture, I looked at experimenting with the use of a medium long shot. This enabled the audience to see the costume and location that the artist was in. In a magazine, this is important, as at times, the location can be dependent on the genre, and it can convey the genre further.  On the next picture I again experimented, by using a close up shot of the artists face, which evidently using an eye level camera angle. The close up shot allowed the audience to concentrate on the artists facial expression. This could effect their mood of the magazine, and also give them an idea about the type of magazine, whether it is going to be a serious magazine or a rather relaxed one.

In most magazines, they use medium shots for pictures of the artists. This is one of the main conventions of magazines. With the camera angle, I didn't really experiment with it, as I felt the use of the eye level, was in nice with my plan, which was to create a rather serious magazine. However, I feel next time, I could experiment further with the camera angles.

Picture Analysis- Main Task

This is my first picture of my artist, without editing. It is shot in a medium shot, with a low camera angle. The mise en scene and location is evident in this picture. The picture allows the audience to view the costume and props that the artist is currently wearing. The main thing I don't like about this picture is spacial relationship. I feel that the wall in the background is too much in view, which makes it look like an ordinary photo, which is not something you would find in a magazine. The pose and stance of the artist relatively fits the genre, conveying a sense of his arrogance furthermore, the way he is looking away from the camera. To make this look effective, I need the background to be smaller and also improve the shot type, as it doesn't really look like something you would find in a music magazine.

This is the edited version of the picture. For me, it looks much better than it did in the first picture. Firstly, I have enhanced a much more darker tone to the picture, making it look a much more serious image. In turn, this would suit my magazine, as I aim to make it a serious magazine. Secondly, the background was a problem in the first picture. However, through the use of editing, I managed to ensure the spacial relationship between the artist and the background. With the fading of the colour, the more urban feel is given out, which is linking into the genre really nicely, plus links very nicely into the younger generation of target audience. Also with the darkened background, shadows start to merge, which as well as creating a serious look, it creates a rather mysterious image, which links into the storyline, as nobody really knew about this artist before he mysteriously came out and started releasing music.

Photo analysis- Main Task

This is one of my other edited pictures that I used in my magazine. The picture is another medium shot, which again focuses on the artists clothing and props, but also it focuses on his facial expressions. Being represented by a low angle shot conveying his dominance. We also see more arrogance, by the fact he is not looking into the camera. Within the urban/ R&B genre, a lot of the artists show attitude and arrogance. It is just a general stereotypical trait. Again, with the background, I have tried to limit the space between the artist and the wall, making it look as professional as possible. I think everything is compacted together in this photo, which makes it look relatively good. The mix of colours in this picture help create a different look to the other pictures. When editing, I looked at the different temperature's that I could use. Whilst using this, I mixed everything together and created a rather warm and fresh look, which again can have specific meaning to the artist, as he has just been introduced and is fresh to the music business. In this photo, I have edited it further by inserting a frame round the edge of the picture. This creates a sense of the professionalism. Similarly, in some magazines, they tend to layout their pictures in frames, to create an effect.

This is my picture on the front cover of my magazine. Again, this picture is also shown in a medium shot, with a low camera angle. Same with the above photo, it allows people to see the costume, and props being used, which is classed as the Mise En Scene. The artists posture is vital to comment on in this picture. Firstly, in the pictures that I have seen in previous magazines of this genre, the artists seem to have this stance, where they are pulling their hood up or adjusting their cap. This is common in pictures, therefore in my planning and taking of the pictures, I ensured that my artist followed this. In this picture, my editing technique is much more fluent. I transferred the picture into a Polaroid picture frame, giving it an extra edge on the front cover, catching the audience's eyes. The darkness again creeps in over the picture adding a more mysterious attitude. The greyish tint to the picture, with the black and white of the artists clothing works really nicely in making the picture stand out. Overall, in my opinion due to the clever choice of editing and mise en scene, I feel that this was my best picture, which was reflecting in me making it my main front cover photo.

Edited Photos with analysis

In this first picture, the artist is shown in a medium shot, with again a huge focus on his use of mise en scene and also location. The costume he is wearing fits in nicely with the oldern colours being represented in the background. This helps the focus get continually drawn into the artist, which is exactly what the magazine aims to do. The artists serious facial expressions, whilst looking away into the far distance help to convey that he is not just in the music business for the fun. His stance and the way he is holding his chain link in nicely with the general R&B stance. The use of the tilted frame helps to give out a different view to the picture, seeing the whole of the frame. The edited background which conveys a mix of contrasting colours helps to give out the urban feeling, which is one of the main things the target audience look for in a magazine of this genre. The faded shadow coming out of the back again creates a mysterious outlook to the picture. The only problem for me in this picture is the space behind the artist. If I could take and edit this picture again, I would have to focus much more on the spacial relationship, behind the artist, as there is to much wall and door showing.

This photo is a good photo to use in a magazine. The only problem with this picture is that it completely goes against the aim to ensure that this magazine is of a serious outlook. The use of the bright colours in the background, give out a different view, as it creates a more fun look to the magazine. However, I think that the photo really fits in well with the background. It is shot in a medium shot, however there is a zoom, that projects into the artists facial reactions, due to the fact he is acting in a different way. The picture links in well with the teenage years of the target audience, due to the relaxed outlook on the picture. It is also shown in an eye level camera angle, which classes the artist's importance as he is looking directly into the camera. In comparison, the space in the background has improved in this picture compared with the one above. There is less space in the background, with the shadow creeping out the back, making it give a contrasting look; The bright colours showing fun, whilst the shadow showing a mystery. The only problem with this edited picture is that it doesn't give out an urban feel, completely going against the rules of the genre.

Title Analysis

This title is very colourful which creates a very fresh and new atmosphere. Editors use these colourful designs in order to attract potential customers when they walk past the magazine in the shop. It is a very good design as it often attracts new customers. The logo is also in bold, conveying a sense of standing out among the rest. This is another way the magazine company aim to attract further customers. The use of colours in the writing is also a key technique that many magazine editors use. Against the black font, the colours help make the whole word stand out, despite only a few words being coloured in. This is because the viewers eyes will be projected towards the colour in an instance. This is an eye catching technique that many magazine's use when creating a title. Also, all of the letters are joined together, which is another eye-catching technique they use. When looking at the title, with all the writing joined together, it gives out more effect because it is all joint, meaning they can see the whole picture.

The 'Vibe' magazine title again is a very good design. The black background with the red bold writing is a key material to use, as it makes the title of the magazine stand out in detail. The huge writing, furthered by the use of capitals helps adds to the emphasis of the magazine trying to make the title stand out. Overall, it is a good title and a well layed out design. I feel that this title is less effective than the one above, just down to the fact it is less colourful than the one above, and when searching for magazines, customers look for nice colourful titles.

Photo Analysis- Preliminary

I used this picture for my front cover, as it is a key image that represents the genre of a school magazine. The picture also contains the key conventions of a school magazine picture. It gives off a nice, fresh atmosphere, linking into the new magazine that is being introduced in this first issue. The medium shot helps to analyse the mise en scene of both of these individuals. For example, it allows the audience to see the kind of clothing they are wearing and also the different props being used. Also, the medium shot has established the background, allowing readers to see what the school is like, in just one picture. Both of the students in this picture are shown in an low camera angle, which conveys that they are dominant and also represents a sense of belonging to the school. The bright lights in the background give it a nice atmosphere, making everything stand out, and also making it look a bright place to be. In the picture, both of the students are smiling which helps to convey the lack of seriousness about the characters and about the magazine. This suggests that the environment is a relaxed environment. The relaxed atmosphere is evident in the picture, so it would be a good image to place in a school magazine, as it will give the audience a relaxed viewpoint over the magazine. Overall, it gives out a good outlook of the magazine and the warming atmosphere, which is key, as it will make the audience feel welcomed and will make them want to buy it every month.

Photo analysis- Preliminary

I used this picture on my front cover as it again conveys the school genre. The two girls being shown in the picture are studying hard, showing the hard working atmosphere being put in at the school. This shown through the fact they are looking through books, but also through the instinctive looks.  This is key as it conveys a hardworking edge about them which could signify that the magazine is going to be a good one. In a way this picture is used to establish the background, conveying that it is a establishing shot. However, at the same time, it is also a medium shot, which allows the audience to draw focus on the students but also to their actions. The medium shot also allows the audience to see the props that make the picture more detailed. It is rather darker than other pictures that I have analysed, therefore it could label that this is quite a serious picture. The props in this picture however, are the most important factor, as they are showing to the audience that this is a hardworking place. The fact there are a lot of books helps to convey that they are really hardworking and are taking school seriously. Mise En Scene is considered really highly in this picture, a massive factor in the planning of taking photographs. Overall, I think that this is a good photo to use, as it focuses enticingly on the two girls working hard, which would give the audience a good attitude by the magazine and are more likely to purchase it.

Photo Analysis- Preliminary Task

This medium close up helps to convey the location where the magazine's focus will be set on. The picture links in really nicely with the topic of the magazine and also the genre of the magazine. The low angle conveys that this is the dominating story over the magazine. The only problem with this picture is that the spacial relationship is poor. You can see the background in to much detail, which shows that it is not the best picture. Also in the picture, there is not much you can comment on. There are no props, showing the distance of Mise En scene in the picture. The tilted frame, gives the readers a different angle, allowing them to see the buildings behind the sign. With the blue sky in the background, it helps create a nice atmosphere, which could be significant, as it could link to the school being a nice place to be, which is more likely to attract more readers, especially with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.Overall, I think that this picture is good, as it conveys the school genre in detail. It gives a valid location of the school and also the name of the school being represented within the magazine. I think this picture is a good enough picture to add into my contents page, as it links in with the main story of the magazine. It also shows the audience the place that is going to be represented in the magazine.

Further analysis of more pictures- Preliminary

I feel that this picture does not symbolise anything about the set genre, which conveys that it is not the best picture to put in my magazine. This establishing shot, helps to convey the location in much greater detail, however it doesn't have any specific meaning that would effect the audiences viewpoint, which is what my magazine aims to do. All it shows is a couple of buildings and it does not really show anything about the school. However, it is a nice picture, as the snow mixes in nicely with the blue sky giving it a relatively nice atmosphere.Overall, I feel that it is not the best picture that I have taken, therefore I wont be using it in my magazine. This was just an experimental picture.

Photo analysis- Main task

This picture was an experimental picture. I have tilted the camera, trying to make it look effective, however, I don't feel that it worked. The medium shot and eye level camera angle help to work together to convey the clothing and props that the artist is wearing, such as the shirt. The eye-level angle was supposed to make the picture look serious, however the fact the artist is looking away from the picture conveys his attitude. The picture is quite dark, adding shadows, which can give out an urban feel. However, in my overall opinion, I don't think this is the best picture, as it doesn't really look like a picture that you would find in a magazine of the R&B genre.

Again, this picture doesn't do it for me either. I experimented with the use of a long shot and for me it didn't work at all. From this shot, you can see the whole background and basically the whole of the room, which was obviously a mistake. With the long shot, you can focus on the background and all of the props that the artist is using. However, it is not the best, looking at the space behind the artist. The only thing that I could pick out in this picture that looks relatively good is the darkness forging upon the walls. This shows a relationship between the genre and the image, as audiences will begin to see the urban feel emerging.

This picture is relatively good. I think the audience could focus on my artist's attire, as it closely links in with the younger generation of my target audience. Many younger members of the audience who go to schools and listen to this type of music, seeing their favorite artists perform would want to dress like this. It creates a special relationship between the image and the target audience. The shot type being used in this picture is a medium long shot, giving a main focus on the artist's stance. He seems relatively calm in this photo, conveying he does have a calm side, despite seemingly being a jokey person. However, once again, he is looking away from the camera, showing his arrogance once more. Once again their is a mixture of two contrasting colours on the walls behind the artist. On his left, the wall is a darker colour, which links into his mysterious rise to fame. But also on his right, the brighter colours help to convey that he is a fresh new artist looking to be the best around. Overall, this picture is relatively good, and fits in nicely with the genre.

Photo Analysis- Main task

These two pictures are pretty similar in the way that they  match the genre through the use of Mise en Scene. The shot is a medium shot, showing the artists positioning in the room and also the costumes and props being used. In both pictures, they are both distancing themselves from the camera and looking off into the distance. Again, this is showing their arrogance. However, this is a good thing as it fits in nicely with the genre of R&B. In this picture, I feel that the spacial relationship between the wall and the artist is evident, which is good, as it shows that from my planning of taking the pictures, I have considered using Mise En Scene for effect. Overall, I think that it is a good picture, however, I think that I have taken much better pictures than this, therefore I don't think that it will be used for the magazine production.

Photo Analysis- Main Task

This picture completely goes against the seriousness of the magazine. However, I think it is a good picture as it links in nicely with the younger generation of target audience. It changes the viewpoint of the artist, as before he was a really relaxed and serious person. However, now he seems on the fun side of things. You could quote that he is showing a serious side because he is looking directly into the camera, which shows his dominance and seriousness.This medium shot with a low camera angle has everything good about it. The Mise en scene is evident through the use of his clothes and snapback. The spacial relationship is evident and there is a nice calming effect. The background is nicely mixed with different shades of grey, making everything look relaxing. The only problem with this picture is that it doesn't really create an urban feel. To make it look better, because it needed changes, I edited the picture using a tool called 'Piknik'. Below is the edited version;

Photo Analysis- Main Task

This is another picture that looks good for my music magazine. The stance of the artist is powerful, acting like he owns the magazine. This again shows that his arrogance and confidence is evident. He is again shown through a medium shot with a low angle. The low angle backs up the point just made about his dominance and confidence. The fact he is staring at the sky could reveal a certain story about his life, such as a religious background. His stance is a perfect stance for the genre, as he is doing the same stance as other inspirational rappers that I have looked at when planning my magazine ideas. The only problem is the background, as there is no urban feel, which would possibly put the audience off of the magazine, as it doesn't really reflect the genre. Overall, I feel that it is a good picture nonetheless, as I have got everything like Mise en scene, shots and stances correct.

Photo Analysis

Tilted frame on this picture makes it effective, as it allows the readers to see the picture from a different angle. Again a medium shot is being used to convey the facial expressions and the clothing that the artist is using. The low angle yet again relates to the artists dominance in this picture and in terms of the magazine, he is the main story. The picture relates in nicely with the main storylines in the magazine, as the artist is the main feature in the magazine in this months issue. His facial expression is rather serious, which links in nicely with the main cover story. This ensures that there is a nice relationship between image and story.

Main Task picture

This close up helps draw the readers into the artists facial expressions. We can see that he is not very serious in this picture again, which again is indifferent to the story line. The frame is tilted once more for effect, seeing the artist from different angles. Overall, I like this picture, however, the background is to light, whereas I wanted to make the background a bit darker to add to the seriousness of the magazine.

Main Task Pictures

Another close-up is used. However, with this picture I don't really find it inticing and it doesn't create effect. The fact the door is showing doesn't help, as it makes it look very unprofessional. You could say the artist is looking serious which is a good thing as the audience will be able to see a relationship between the picture and the storyline. Also, the mise en scene is good, such as the clothing, as it fits in nicely with the colour scheme on the front cover. Overall, it is not the best picture, however, with the use of photoshop or any other tool I can achieve my aim of making it better.

Music magazine pictures.

This picture is a medium long shot. It shows the background nicely and conveys a lack of seriousness about the artist. This goes against the main storyline, as it is supposed to be a serious storyline. The low camera angle is displayed with effect once more, as it is showing his power, hence the reason why the magazine article is going to be about him. The lighting is an effect in this photo, as the bright light shining over the artist could be shown as symbolism towards his rise to fame. However, there is still a dark shadow in the corner. This could convey many different outlooks, such as a troubled past.
There is a change of reflection in this picture. Before, we saw the artist in his rap gear but now he is in a suit, showing a sense of calmness. The artist is looking partially into the camera, emphasising that he is now serious. Within a magazine of this genre, it is important to have changing moods, such as relaxed and serious in this case. The artist is shown in a slightly longer shot this time, however it still looks really good. Overall, I feel that it is a really good picture and can be placed on the contents page or the double-page spread.

This is another picture I like. I feel that it meets the conventions of the magazine. This picture has been shot at a different angle, conveying a difference in the shots being taken. Again, I would say this shot is a medium shot, this is for the audience to see the clothing and props that the artist is using in the frame. Overall, I think this is a good picture. Within the magazine, I would want this to be on the double-page spread.

Analysis of music magazine pictures 2

This action shot is a good picture. I believe that it creates a  good sense of the genre, through the use of the props and the artist's reactions. Again, the artist is looking away from the camera showing further evidence of his rappers attitude. This medium shot is key as it shows the props the artist is wearing and it also shows the artist whilst in action. Overall, I believe that this picture would look good on the contents page, as it is one of the pictures that would represent whats in the magazine. However, saying this, I believe it would also look good on the double page spread.

Again, this is another picture that I like. I feel that it shows a more relaxed attitude from the artist, which I guess would look alright in a hip hop magazine. It is a medium shot yet again, so it is following the main conventions. The only problem I can see is that, it doesn't really look like a front cover picture for the magazine. Furthermore, it doesn't look like a picture for a double-paged spread either. However, I could see a relaxed picture like this one as such on a contents page.

Analysis of music magazine pictures.

I like this picture. However, the fact the actor is smiling conveys that it is not serious enough. Within my magazine, I want the pictures to be serious, to show the seriousness of the magazine. However, yes at times in the magazine, I could include pictures with the actor smiling. Furthermore, I feel that this photo would not fit into the front cover or the contents and possibly the double page spread. The good thing is, it follows the main rules of a front cover, with a medium shot.

This is probably one of the best pictures I took. The seriousness of the magazine could be emphasised through this one picture. The props being used convey the genre in further detail. The cap and chain are key props used often. The artist is looking in a different direction, which gives a sense of ignorance which links in with the character of the artist. It is a popular trate that is represented with an R&B artist. Again, it follows the rules of that it should be in the medium shot range. Overall, I feel that this is a really good picture and would look good on the front cover preferably.

Analysis of pictures.

This shot is a medium shot with a hint of some zoom, to  try and add effect to nonetheless a dull picture. It is partially an establishing shot, as it is establishing the setting, but I don't think it has much meaning and will not have much meaning to the target audience. The low angle, helps to ensure that the audience know that this is the dominance of the story, therefore there is some link between the two.At first, I felt this was a good image to use for my school magazine production. However, after a time of considering it I felt that it didn't really show any contrast within the magazine and did not have any real meaning, therefore I decided to leave it out of the magazine.

Progress for preliminary task with analysis

So far, I believe that everything has gone really well for my magazines that I have produced. Firstly, I took into account the task for the preliminary project. This was to create a new school magazine front cover and contents page.  Overall, I feel this went well, as I stuck to the conventions that a magazine front cover should follow. I then went out and took pictures for the magazine, which again I feel was a great success. Most of my pictures look good and look well taken. However, there are some which maybe are not the best, therefore I will be discussing in detail why they have not been used in a later post. The pictures that I did choose however were key, as they represented the school genre in much more detail. I used the logo of the school, as it added more to the schooling genre. It also established the location of where the magazine was coming from. I did much research on the key conventions of a school magazine for the preliminary task, which helped me even more, as it allowed me to learn and insert them into my magazine. Finally, publishing the magazine was a rather simple process because of the planning I conducted. Plus, I knew all the key conventions of a school magazine, therefore I just had to take this knowledge and put it into a magazine front cover. The text I used for the headings was different to the one that I used for the normal writing, showing a comparison between the two. The main reason being that I want the main headings and the title to stand out more. Furthermore, the pictures are shown in medium shot types allowing the readers to focus on the use of Mise En Scene and the facial expressions of the students. The low camera angle conveys the two lads dominance in the picture, which links in with the fact they are going to be in the main article, showing a clear relationship between image and story. The colour scheme also forges a nice relationship between the magazine and the target audience, as the bright colours being used to give out a nice welcoming atmosphere, which is more likely to attract customers.

Again, I feel that the contents page went really well as it looks professional. For me, I believe that it was another simple process for me. I researched the conventions similiarly as I did for the front cover and then placed them into a contents page. Within the research, I saw that in many school magazines, they contain an editor's letter. This was a big influence to me, therefore I decided to add it into my contents page. Furthermore, I made all the headings and subheadings stand out, by using the boldness tool, ensuring that the audience can read it clearly. I have labelled the page numbers in corresponding order, ensuring that the readers can pick out the page to the information they mostly want to view. All contents pages have page numbers and what is on these pages, therefore it was important that I added that in. Finally, I inserted the front cover onto my contents page, ensuring that the readers know what magazine they are reading. The picture I added in was to ensure that the readers know the genre of the magazine and the location of where this magazine is coming from. I used a different font type for the contents page, to show a difference from the contents page and the front cover. The font is rather groovey, giving out an exciting new look, linking to the fact that the magazine is new.

Overall, I feel that the preliminary task was a big success for me. However in the terms of improving, I feel that on the front cover, I shouldn't of squashed it all in as it could come across messy to some people. Again, the same on the contents. I will include these changes into my main task for the music magazine.

Photoshopped image examples.

Photoshop lighting effects.

 Lighting Effects:

Within the publication of a magazine, the editors have a main focus on different lighting effects. The lighting effects are key as they help make a picture look more detailed and give a wider function about the image. Also, the lighting of an image is massively important as it allows the image to stand out more than all the writing, therefore it enables the audience to get a wider understanding of what the magazine is about. The use of photoshop enables the editor to add extra detail to certain images conveying a higher lighting effect making them stand out. In the magazine, Billboard, the main picture has focused on shadow, meaning that the light has been taken out of the picture, emphasising a more dark and seriousness about the cover. In Vibe magazine, the picture is much more lighter, creating a bright and exciting effect towards the audience. The colour and brightness of a front cover or picture is used effectively in attracting more potential readers. Both magazines change there lighting depending on the target audience. If the target audience was a much younger generation then the colours would be much more brighter, with fresh light colours, compared to an older target audience where they would want a serious magazine, therefore the colours would be much darker.

Analysis of my contents page.

Does my Contents page follow the main conventions of a school contents page?

Yes. The contents page that I have produced focuses solely on the main conventions being used. For example, I used a broad, bold heading at the top of the page to ensure that the readers can clearly establish that this is the contents page. The use of the editors letter informs the readers about what is in this issue of the magazine. Furthermore, I have included subheadings, to establish what is in the magazine and on what pages. I included a print screen of the front cover and located it at the top of the contents page, to again convey a sense of the magazine that the readers are reading. The logo and the picture being used help represent the genre further and relate to different stories within the magazine.

Examples of school magazine contents pages.

  • Subheadings to split up content; These are 'regular content and feature content'
  • Pictures that are relevant to the magazine content.
  • Set colour schemes that will locate their target audience.
  • Numbers to clarify what information is on what page.
  • In each picture, they are mostly shown in medium shots.

Examples of School magazine front covers.

Target audience for school magazines are often for parents of students who go to the relevant school of where this magazine is coming from. The aim of the school magazine is to inform parents about what is going on at their childs respective schools. It is important that magazine editors follow the main conventions and aims, in order to create a successful magazine and attract a mass audience. There are a number of ways that a magazine can meet their target audience. They can do it through their use of colours. As noticed in these two magazines, they are using brighter colours which represent a family/ young people's audience. They can also use pictures to represent their target audience. For example, the picture on the right shows three little children which conveys that it is a family magazine.

Analysis of my school magazine front cover.

Does my magazine show any of the conventions of these magazines?

Yes, it shows a general link to these two magazines shown below. The magazine created sticks to a main colour scheme, linking to the colours of the school the magazine is representing. Also, the pictures are very well related into the school genre, as they are showing the students in uniform, representing the school environment. The students are shown in a medium shot, which establishes there reactions and also comfortably distinguishes the Mise En Scene being used in the picture.Elsewhere, the text on the front cover and contents are suitable, as they are both clear and easy to read. The contrasting colours are key to a magazine front cover, as they help the magazine look different and stand out over other magazines in shops. Again, it follows all of the main conventions that a magazine front cover should do. It has a large bold heading that ensures the title will stand out and also little subheadings around the page, which again help the main features of the magazine to stand out. The background information all stands out, giving it a rather professional edge. If I could re-do the task, then preferably i would insert more pictures into the front cover.
