Conventions of a School Magazine Contents Page.

  • Heading must be bold to stand out, so the readers can establish it is a contents page.
  • Little sub headings, showing the different features of a magazine.
  • Pictures are used to relate to different stories within the magazine
  • Email at the bottom, ensuring readers can give their opinions to the magazine and topics that are mentioned in the magazine.
  • Pages are broken down, under page number headings.
  • Different font to help ensure the writing stands out.
  • Pictures should follow the main conventions, by ensuring that they are either Close up, medium shot or occasionally long shot. However, most of the time the pictures are usually shot in either a close up or medium shot.
In order to make my school magazine contents page look successful, I ensured that I took care in following these several rules. I ensured that the heading was evidently clear to the target audience, in order for them to read it. I split up the page into different sections under separate sub headings, which allowed the audience to digest the information. I also gave them a warm welcome, with an editors letter. This is a nice way to ensure you attract further audience, as it gives them a warm welcome, creating a nice positive atmosphere. I ensured that the pictures Iused in the contents page were significant with the genre of the magazine and linked in with the storylines in the magazine this week. I also felt it would be an idea to locate a copy of the front cover on the contents page, enabling the readers to locate what they are reading. The picture used furthermore, follows the conventions of a magazine, as it is shot in a close up shot type, with a low angle also being used. Pages are broken down under set numbers, which in turn evens out the magazine. Furthermore, I change the font of the magazine, to add effect, and to ensure that the readers do not get bored by it. One font in which I used was, 'Rockwell condensed' in size '20'. This font was different from the rest and was reasonably bigger aswell, which ensured the different page numbers and headings would stand out more efficiently on the page.
