Analysing music magazines- Double page spread.

The double page spread from these 3 magazine show similarities throughout. The first and third DPS convey a sense of a light background, with the use of the black writing which mixes into it, ensuring that the information provided on the two pages stand out.  On each of the double pages, there are two main pictures, with lots more information around it. This links to the target audience, as many of these magazines are aimed at further ages such as young adults and adults. In comparison, in a children’s magazine you would see more pictures than writing, as it is more likely that they would be more interested in the pictures. The pictures contain a huge focus of the magazine, as the readers can associate the pictures with the articles in the magazine. Within all of the pictures, the artists represent the same genre, which in this case is the R&B genre, conveying that the information provided and the genre of the magazine is that of R&B. The titles are often highlighted, making them stand out and making everything stand out on the page, ensuring the readers can focus on main parts of the magazine, like the titles. Each magazine DPS have different subtitles, which is a big help for readers, as they can pick out key pieces of information with ease.
Within the information, you can pick out different quotes from the artist. This helps convey that this interview being put into the magazine is an exclusive interview, showing it is coming right from a valuable source.  The quotes are a vital piece of information, as readers can pick out certain parts and get more inside knowledge about the artist.
The heading on the second DPS interacts with the readers straight away, as it is bringing in the artist straight away. This shows that the editors of the magazine are expecting the audience to know who the artist is. The image helps draw the readers in further, as the picture links into the headline greatly.
The journalist has set this article in a very formal way, which is vital, as if the information is formal, readers can understand it more and will feel like the journalist is addressing them, which helps greatly.  The information is split under different questions, which helps readers process the main bits of information throughout the interview with the artist.  Also, the information put into the article must be reliable, as readers don’t want to read untrue information. In the case of the magazine pages I am analysing, all the information is relevant; therefore it attracts the readers to buying it every week. Everything in the DPS articles is relevant as they say good things about the artist. If there were bad pieces of information about the artist, then it would give the magazine a reputation and would create a bad image of the artists.
Overall, the target audience for these magazines that I am analysing are all under the target audience of teenagers, young adults and adults. I can see this, as the information on the DPS is fully relevant and shown in great detail, meaning that readers can learn more about the artists being represented in the magazine interview.
